Behaviour Policy
Introduction
ARTeach endeavours to ensure that every child in our care feels valued and respected, and that each person is treated fairly and well. We are a caring company, whose values are built on mutual trust and respect for all. Our behaviour policy is designed so that our staff can work together in a supportive way. It aims to promote an environment in which everyone feels happy, safe and secure.
Our behaviour policy is not primarily concerned with rule enforcement, it is a means of promoting good relationships, so that people can work together with the common purpose of helping everyone to learn. This policy supports the values of ARTeach in aiming to allow everyone to work together in an effective and considerate way.
We expect every child to behave in a considerate and respectful way towards others. We treat all children fairly and apply this behaviour policy in a consistent way.
This policy aims to help children learn in a safe and secure environment.
ARTeach recognises and promotes good behaviour, as it believes that this will develop an ethos of kindness and cooperation. This policy is designed to encourage good behaviour, rather than merely deter poor behaviour.
Staff Responsibility
Behaviour Management is the responsibility of all staff at ARTeach.
Rules:
Enjoy and have fun in a safe manner
Play within the rules of the activity
Show respect for each other at all times
Do not spoil the enjoyment of other children taking part
Our staff will inform the parent/guardian of any problems with behaviour during their time with us to eliminate any further issues. In the unlikely event of your child being banned from our activities, we will contact the parent/guardian and/or the other contacts you have supplied when booking to collect your child at your earliest convenience.
Promoting Positive Behaviour
We praise and reward children for good behaviour in a variety of ways, but mostly inline with the specific school policy of which staff are assigned to.
During our clubs and lessons, we use positive reinforcement constantly and always encourage good behaviour.
Code of Conduct
ARTeach expects the rules to be followed to ensure a safe and positive environment.
We expect children to listen carefully to instructions. If they do not do so, we ask them either to move to a place nearer the staff member, or to sit on their own.
We expect children to try their best in all activities. If they do not do so and mess around we may ask them to sit out until they are ready to re-join the activity.
If behaviour is inappropriate then a verbal warning is given to the child and the staff member will explain to the child what he/she is doing that is not acceptable.
If a child is disruptive during an activity, the staff member will reprimand him or her. If a child misbehaves repeatedly, we will remove the child from the rest of the group until s/he calms down and is able to behave sensibly again with others.
The safety of the children is paramount in all situations. If a child’s behaviour endangers the safety of others, the member of still will stop the activity and prevent the child from taking part for the rest of that session.
ARTeach does not tolerate bullying of any kind. If we discover that an act of bullying or intimidation has
taken place, we act immediately to stop any further occurrences of such behaviour. While it is very difficult to eradicate bullying, we do everything in our power to ensure that all children attend our provisions free from fear.
Racist incidents will not be tolerated in any form. In any cases of bullying, the parent will be informed
immediately.
Procedures and Recording of Behavioural incidents
Recording incidents is crucial for identifying patterns. The following steps will be taken:
● Immediate investigation of reported incidents, with thorough listening and assurance to the reporting child.
● Fair consideration of both sides of the story during the investigation.
● Immediate support for victims to restore self-esteem.
● Clear communication with perpetrators about the unacceptability of their behavior.
● Recording incidents in the Incident Log.
● Continuous communication with parents, ensuring their satisfaction with the resolution process.
● In cases of bullying, ARTeach implements a three-strike rule. Upon the first occurrence, a thorough investigation and intervention will take place. A second incident will result in heightened intervention, and a third instance will lead to a part-time ban for the child involved. This measure is aimed at promoting a safer environment and discouraging repeated instances of bullying.
Sincerely,
Arteach
